The wait is finally over. After years of wanting the early Dragon Ball Super arcs to get the treatment they deserved, Toei Animation is bringing Goku's first clash with Beerus back with a new coat of paint. Premiering on October 11, 2026, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will revisit the story that introduced Super Saiyan God, the Gods of Destruction, and an opponent Goku still hasn't managed to leave in the rearview mirror.

And Beerus isn't going to be the only stop. Toei has confirmed that the remake will also cover Frieza's Revival Arc and Universe 6 arcs, giving the series plenty of room to rebuild the early days of Dragon Ball Super with updated visuals, sound, and a tighter presentation. That also means seeing some of the biggest moments from this part of the story again, from Goku finally reaching Super Saiyan God to Vegeta getting his first real taste of god-level power.

The timing is pretty interesting, too. With Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol also on the way, Toei is clearly looking further ahead than just another trip down memory lane. The Beerus remake can revisit where this whole era started before the franchise moves into the Moro storyline. For Dragon Ball fans, that's a pretty ridiculous amount of Saiyan action waiting on the horizon.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Is Bringing Back The Early Super Era At Breakneck Speed

The first thing that stands out about Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is just how much story Toei is trying to pack into it. According to a reliable source, @SugoiLITE on X (formerly Twitter), the remake is currently slated for 19 episodes, with the weekly broadcast beginning on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 7:15 AM PDT, with Crunchyroll handling the streaming release. Despite the name, God of Destruction isn't getting the entire show to himself either. The remake is set to cover the Hakaishin Beerus Arc, Frieza's Revival Arc, and the Universe 6 Arc.

That puts a ridiculous amount of Dragon Ball into a pretty short run. The original 2015 anime spent more than 40 episodes covering these three storylines, while this version is reportedly cutting that down to 19. If that episode count holds, the pacing is going to be much faster, with the remake moving from Goku's first battle with Beerus straight into Frieza's return and then the Universe 6 Tournament.

And honestly, that lineup has plenty of heavy hitters. Goku has to deal with an opponent who completely outclassed him when they first met, Vegeta gets another chance to show how far he's come, Frieza returns with a new transformation, and the Universe 6 Tournament introduces fighters like Hit and Cabba.

There's very little room for messing around with only 19 episodes. If Toei sticks to that count, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus could be a much tighter version of the story that kicked off the Super era.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Is The Perfect Stepping Stone Before The Anime Finally Tackles The Moro Arc

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus could end up being more important than just another remake. If Toei gets the pacing, animation, and fight scenes right across these three arcs, it could give a pretty good idea of what the studio has planned for the next part of the Dragon Ball Super anime. That matters even more with Galactic Patrol on the way and the Moro Arc waiting in the wings.

Toei has already shown with the recent One Piece episodes that its current animation teams can make weekly anime look seriously good. So there is plenty of reason to expect the Beerus remake to go all out when Goku first runs into the God of Destruction, especially with only 19 episodes to work with.

There isn't much time left either. With the October 11 premiere getting closer, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is shaping up to be one of the big anime releases of Fall 2026. And if Toei really manages to turn more than 40 episodes of the original material into a tight 19-episode run without losing the best fights or character moments, this could be a very different way to experience the beginning of Dragon Ball Super.
