Ajayi hails Hull’s response against Brentford

Nigeria international Semi Ajayi is pleased with Hull City’s response to their previous defeat after the Tigers battled to a 1-1 draw against Brentford at the MKM Stadium on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

“It’s important that we had a good bounce back from last week, we did that,” Ajayi told Sky Sports after the match.

Despite welcoming the response, the defender admitted that Hull were disappointed not to claim all three points on home soil.

“We are definitely disappointed not to come away with the three points, but a point at home is always positive,” he said.

Ajayi played a key role in helping Hull secure the draw, producing an assured defensive display against Brentford to earn two Man of the Match awards.

The Nigerian centre-back won five of the six tackles he attempted, made four clearances, recorded five recoveries and completed two interceptions, underlining his contribution to Hull’s efforts to contain their opponents.

His performance earned him the Premier League Player of the Match award, while he also claimed Hull’s club award after receiving 43.6 per cent of the votes, finishing ahead of Oli McBurnie, Tim Iroegbunam and Lewis Coyle.

The draw offered Hull a chance to regain some momentum following their defeat to Fulham, with Ajayi’s comments reflecting the importance of responding positively rather than allowing one disappointing result to affect their subsequent performances.

For the Tigers, the challenge will be to build on the point against Brentford and convert their performances into victories as they pursue their Premier League survival ambitions.
