Guardians vs. Rays, Monday, October 19, 2026 at 8 p.m. ET | Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, FL | TBS/truTV

We know the key to most playoff games is the pitching. We’ve already seen the Dodgers, winners of the past two championships, eliminated because they couldn’t figure out the Brewers' pitching staff. The Rays have shown an advantage on the mound and now have a 3-2 series lead.

The Guardians have not announced who will start tonight, but my guess is that they will go with an opener and then someone like Foster Griffin. The reason teams use openers is so they can send one of their best pitchers to the mound to face the top of the order, then send another pitcher to face the lineup. That essentially steals about three outs.

The Rays are not utilizing that strategy; instead, they are sending Freddy Peralta to the hill. Peralta has been very good in the postseason and in most of his starts for the Rays. In the first game against the Guardians in this series, he went six scoreless innings. This will be the third time seeing Peralta, though. Perhaps the Guardians can get to him this time.

Will the Guardians extend the series? Or will tonight be the night the Rays punch their ticket to the postseason? Fanatics is giving you a chance to make the call with promo code FOXNEWS350 to earn $350 in FanCash when you wager $20 on tonight’s Game 6.
