KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said she was unaware of any arrangements to pay the RM50 million fine imposed on her husband, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, to enable him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.

Rosmah said she had not been informed of any developments concerning the payment today.

"I do not know. You all know better.

"The family does not know and I am not being told about it," she said when approached by reporters at the Kuala Lumpur courts complex today.

She was met after attending the hearing of her application to adduce new evidence in her solar hybrid project corruption case.

When shown a news report by a Malay daily claiming that two people believed to be Najib's representatives had been spotted at the court's payment counter this morning, Rosmah appeared puzzled and asked who the individuals were.

"They (Malay daily) always know better and then after that they retract," she said with a giggle.

Rosmah also said she was unaware of the progress of Umno's crowdfunding campaign to raise RM50 million to help Najib settle the fine.

"I am not involved in it. You can ask Asyraf Wajdi," she said, referring to Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

Earlier today, Utusan Malaysia reported that two people believed to be representing Najib were seen leaving the payment counter at the Kuala Lumpur courts complex.

The report said they were believed to have visited the counter to obtain information on the procedures for paying the fine.

On Wednesday, Asyraf Wajdi denied reports that Najib was preparing to settle the fine, saying the crowdfunding campaign had yet to raise the required amount.

He also declined to disclose the amount collected through the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund, which was launched on Sept 18.

Najib's lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, had also dismissed speculation over the payment, saying he had not received any instructions from his client to settle the fine.

On Sunday, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar confirmed that Najib had yet to pay the fine and that no specific deadline had been set for the payment.

On Sept 18, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, granted Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to payment of the RM50 million fine and other conditions.

Najib, 73, has been serving his sentence at Kajang Prison since Aug 23, 2022, after the Federal Court upheld his conviction for misappropriating RM42 million belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd.

He was originally sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined RM210 million.

In January 2024, the Federal Territories Pardons Board reduced his jail term to six years and the fine to RM50 million.8
