Embrace entrepreneurial techniques, technologies – KAAF VC urges students

Translate

Professor Alhassan Musah, Vice-Chancellor of KAAF University, has urged graduates and students to embrace entrepreneurial techniques and emerging technologies to drive innovation and create employment opportunities.

He said that individuals who created value and made a significant impact on society were those who excelled in entrepreneurship and leveraged opportunities in their environments to innovate.

Prof Musah made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of the matriculation ceremony for fresh students admitted for the 2026/2027 academic year at the University’s Gomoa Fetteh Kakraba campus in the Central Region.

A total of 1,750 students were matriculated to pursue programmes in various disciplines, including Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Humanities and graduate studies.

According to the Vice Chancellor, there were numerous opportunities for innovative graduates, and it was time for people to focus on what they could do to improve society rather than what society could do for them.

“Currently, there are few public sector job opportunities graduates are struggling to fit into; however, we in KAAF believe that whenever there is a problem, there is an opportunity,” he stated.

Prof Musah noted that successful individuals were those who consistently created value, adding that the University was equipping students with entrepreneurial mindsets and practical skills to become self-reliant and create jobs for others.

He advised the students to use the freedom associated with university life responsibly by remaining disciplined, committed and focused on their academic and career goals.

“Globally, many countries, including Ghana, are going through lots of challenges, but KAAF believe within these challenges are opportunities for innovation, enterprise, research, and leadership; that is why we offer guidance services to our students and provide them with opportunities to explore,” he said.

Prof Musah said education should go beyond the acquisition of certificates and focus on developing knowledge, critical-thinking skills, practical competencies, ethical values and the confidence to address real-world challenges.

“You have not come to this university merely to pass examinations but to learn, discover, innovate and develop solutions to problems in a world which is changing rapidly with technology, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, climate, globalisation and labour market demands, transforming the nature of work and society,” Prof Musah emphasised.

He encouraged the students to aspire to become problem-solvers, innovators, ethical leaders, effective communicators and lifelong learners, noting that success was often achieved through discipline, diligence and a proper balance between work and leisure.

Prof Musah acknowledged the sacrifices made by parents in supporting their children's education, saying their responsibilities did not end with admission but extended to continuous guidance, encouragement, moral support, and supervision.

He called on parents to partner with the University in the education and development of their wards to ensure that they fully benefited from an intellectually enriching, personally transformative, and professionally rewarding university experience.

He expressed optimism that the students would graduate not only with academic qualifications but also with the knowledge, skills, values and confidence required to make a positive impact in society.
