Rabindra Dhant has the opportunity to become the first-ever fighter from Nepal to earn a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) contract.
The 27-year-old beat Kasib Murdoch in the semifinal of the Road to UFC and will be up against Japan’s Ryo Tajima in the bantamweight summit clash.
The final of the Road to UFC is scheduled to take place on February 7 in Sydney. The bouts have been added to the UFC Fight Night card, which will be headlined by the lightweight bout between Quillan Sakilld and Benoit Saint Denis.
While Dhant defeated New Zealand’s Murdoch via split decision in the semifinal in Shanghai, his counterpart, Tajima, made light work of India’s Chungreng Koren to reach the final.
The UFC also confirmed that Robert Whittaker will be in action in Sydney after six years in the co-main fixture. The former middleweight champion will take on Bogdan. Guskov of Uzbekistan.
