With the activity, the PCO also said, "the Philippines and Fiji continue to build on their longstanding diplomatic relations."

"Ambassador-designate Tikoca previously served as Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste, as well as High Commissioner to Singapore," the PCO said.

"With diplomatic relations dating back to 1973 and the Philippine Embassy in Suva established in January 2026, both countries have opportunities to expand cooperation. Bilateral trade reached USD 4.7 million in 2025," it added.

President Marcos also received the credentials of His Excellency Théophile Irambona, Republic of Burundi’s Non-Resident Ambassador-designate to the Philippines.

"Ambassador-designate Irambona has served as Burundi’s Ambassador to China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Vietnam since 2023, bringing extensive experience in diplomacy and public administration. Following the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2017, his accreditation provides an opportunity to further strengthen ties and explore areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries," the PCO said. — BAP, GMA News
