Heavy rain cuts off access to Pos Balar

GUA MUSANG: Continuous heavy rain since yesterday afternoon caused a section of the main road to the Orang Asli settlement at Pos Balar here to collapse, cutting off access to all vehicles.

Pos Balar Orang Asli Village Development and Security Committee (JPKKOA) chairman Hanan Anjang said he was informed of the incident near Kampung Enching around 8pm yesterday.

He said he was informed that continuous rain from 5pm had caused the main route to Pos Balar to collapse at 6pm.

"I will go to Pos Balar today to inspect the condition of the road and assess whether it is still passable.

"The route is the main access road to Pos Balar. During the rainy season, many other roads are also badly damaged," he said when contacted today.

Hanan, who represents Orang Asli communities in the interior, also expressed disappointment that the Rural Connectivity Road project, which is currently under construction, had not resumed since early last month.

"The paved Rural Connectivity Road project from Kuala Betis - Pos Bihai - Pos Belatim - Pos Balar - Pos Hau and back to Kuala Betis is our only hope for better access.

"If there are issues involving the contractor, I hope the authorities can resolve them immediately," he said.
