Modi’in Illit man indicted over alleged sexual offense against 12-year-old girl

The 33-year-old allegedly drove to a nearby forest with the girl in the car, where he stopped the vehicle in daylight, exposed himself, and demanded that the girl perform a sexual act.

A 33-year-old Modi’in Illit man was indicted in the Central District Court on Tuesday for allegedly committing an indecent act against a girl of approximately 12 after offering her a ride and driving her to a nearby forest.

The prosecution also asked the court to keep the defendant, Meir Hammami, in custody until the criminal proceedings against him are completed.

According to the indictment, Hammami encountered the girl while she was crossing at a pedestrian crossing near the entrance to Modi’in Illit. The two did not know one another.

Prosecutors allege that Hammami offered her a ride and, after she entered his vehicle, began asking questions about her and her family.

He then allegedly diverted from the route and drove to a nearby forest, where he stopped the vehicle in daylight, exposed himself, and demanded that the girl perform a sexual act. 

According to the indictment, the girl began crying and pleaded with Hammami to leave because she was late. He then drove her home.

Hammami charged with count of indecent act against a minor

The indictment charges Hammami with one count of committing an indecent act against a minor.

The prosecution’s separate detention request will determine whether Hammami remains in custody while the case proceeds.
