‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’: Nivin Pauly’s Justin was inspired by someone Girish A.D. knows, reveals Kiran Jose; explains how Glixon was added

'Nivin Pauly's Justin was inspired by someone Girish knows'; says 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit' screenwriter.

The characters in ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ may feel familiar to audiences, but not all of them were directly inspired by real people. Screenwriter Kiran Jose has now revealed how two of the film’s characters came into the story and explained the inspiration behind them.

Nivin Pauly’s Justin was inspired by someone Girish A.D. knows

According to Kiran Jose, Justin, played by Nivin Pauly, was partly inspired by someone known to director Girish A.D. However, the writer clarified that the character was not an exact recreation of that person.Speaking about the writing process in an interview with Reporter Films, Kiran explained that Justin was created with the qualities of an approachable elder brother whom everyone likes.“Nivin Pauly’s character called Justin was inspired by someone Girish knows.

It is not completely based on that person, but there was certainly some inspiration. That character had the figure of an elder brother whom everyone likes. None of the other characters were written after seeing or basing them on a particular person.”

Glixon was added during the writing process

Unlike Justin, Glixon was not part of Girish A.D.’s initial version of the story. The character was introduced later while Kiran Jose and the team were developing the screenplay.

The writing team wanted one of the boys in the group to have a crush on Ashley, played by Mamitha Baiju. This idea eventually led to the creation of Glixon, who was portrayed by Roshan Shanavas.Kiran revealed that only the character’s name was borrowed from someone known to Girish, while the character itself was not based on that person.“As far as I know, only the name Glixon was taken. This character did not exist initially.

Glixon was not there in Girish’s version. Later, when we were about to write it, we came up with the idea that it would be nice if one person in the group of boys had a crush on Ashley. Glixon is an acquaintance of an acquaintance of Girish. We took that name and put it here. Other than that, the character was not written by taking inspiration from anyone.

For audiences who have watched the film, Glixon has emerged as one of the key sources of comic relief in ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’, contributing to the film’s fun element throughout the story.
