MK PARTY FIRES SIBONELO NOMVALO
In a statement issued by the Office of the President, Jacob Zuma, on Thursday, 22 October, the party said the decision followed concerns about the councillor selection process, internal factionalism, dual remuneration and delays in campaign materials.
The statement also cited concerns about changes within the parliamentary caucus and administration that were reportedly not communicated to the party president, national officials and the Presidency Collective.
The party said these issues raised questions about internal communication, organisational coordination and accountability.

MTSHALI APPOINTED ACTING SECRETARY-GENERAL
Mtshali will work in consultation with National Chairperson and the party’s eThekwini mayoral candidate Mxolisi Phakathi to ensure continuity in the party’s coordination, administration and organisational affairs.
National spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu will also take on additional responsibilities associated with the office of deputy secretary-general, sharing the duties with Mtshali while retaining his position as spokesperson.
The party said the interim arrangements were intended to strengthen coordination and accountability and ensure that decisions taken by authorised leadership structures were implemented effectively.
Nomvalo was asked to cooperate with the relevant structures to ensure a smooth handover of his duties.
The MK Party called on its national, provincial, regional and branch structures to cooperate with the officials concerned and ensure that administrative processes comply with the party’s constitution and established procedures.
The party reiterated its commitment to unity, discipline and collective leadership, urging members to avoid unnecessary divisions and prioritise the organisation’s interests.
“The Party comes first. Unity, discipline and accountability remain our collective responsibility,” the party said.
