Ranveer Singh is expected to return to the sets of Pralay on October 27 for a brief shooting schedule in Mumbai, according to a report by Variety India. The actor had stepped away from the zombie thriller ahead of the birth of his and Deepika Padukone’s second daughter on September 19. The revised schedule reportedly involves a short stint of filming before Singh takes another break, with his next return to the production yet to be confirmed.

Ranveer Singh to resume ‘Pralay’ shoot by the end of October

According to Variety India, Ranveer Singh is expected to resume shooting for Pralay on October 27, with the upcoming schedule likely to last a couple of weeks. The shoot will take place in Mumbai, allowing the actor to return to work for a limited period before taking another break from the production. His subsequent shooting schedule has not yet been finalised. The actor had stepped away from the film shortly before he and Deepika Padukone welcomed their second daughter on September 19.

Singh was initially expected to continue filming until Diwali before taking paternity leave, while the next major schedule of Pralay was reportedly planned for 2027. The latest timeline points to a revised arrangement, with shorter shooting commitments instead of an uninterrupted break from work.

Why ‘Pralay’ shifted its shooting schedule to Mumbai

Directed by Jai Mehta, Pralay went on floors in Mumbai in August. The film marks Ranveer Singh’s first outing in the zombie thriller genre and is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Mumbai.

Conceived as a survival thriller, the project is reportedly using real locations in and around the city to establish the film’s dystopian setting. An earlier shooting schedule was reportedly planned in Australia. However, the production subsequently shifted its plans to Mumbai as Singh and Padukone prepared to welcome their second child. The change allowed filming to continue closer to home during that period, following which the actor took time away after the birth of his daughter.

Ranveer Singh’s rugged look and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Hindi debut

'Pralay' has continued to attract attention despite the makers keeping the film’s plot details under wraps. In September, glimpses from the sets showed Singh sporting a rugged appearance, complete with longer hair and stubble. He was also seen alongside Kalyani Priyadarshan, who is making her Hindi film debut with the project.

The film is directed by Jai Mehta, who previously co-directed the acclaimed series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story.

Pralay is backed by Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios, Hansal Mehta and Sahil Saigal’s True Story Films, and Singh’s Maa Kasam Films. Details about the supporting cast, the complete shooting schedule and the film’s release date are yet to be announced.
