India enjoyed a fruitful opening couple of hours on Thursday at the Asian Games 2026, winning two medals.
Wushu athlete Roshibina Devi Maroem, who came in for Divyanshi Choudhary as a last-minute replacement under controversial circumstances, won the silver medal in the women’s 60 kg sanda category after losing to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu 0-2 in the final.
Roshibina in the process clinched her third Asiad medal, after having won bronze in 2018 and a silver in the 2022 edition.
Elsewhere, double sculls rowers Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won the bronze medal. Satnam and Salman registered a time of 6:13.25s. and finished behind Uzbekistan’s Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov, who clinched silver, and China’s Xudi Yi and Yide Nie, who won gold.
India now sits in 14th position in the medals tally with 14 medals, including one gold, six silver, and seven bronze medals.
