Slipknot fans spot cryptic posters around the globe – is a tour announcement incoming?

Cryptic Slipknot posters have been popping up around the world – possibly hinting at a new tour announcement from the Iowa metal icons.

The new artworks were first spotted across at least 10 cities across North and South America yesterday (Tuesday September 22), with each featuring their iconic ‘S’ logo and a red background, as well as the name of the city.

Fans have been quick to spot the posters and share photos to social media, and yesterday alone there were sightings of the posters in Los Angeles, New York, Hershey, Houston, Mexico City, Bogota, Buenos Aires, San Francisco, Chicago, Santiago, Toronto and Ontario.

Now, some posters have been spotted in London as well, with fans speculating that it could mean that a tour announcement is on the way.

On each poster, there is also the URL unlock.slipknot1.com, and when fans visit the site, it encourages them to sign up with their email for updates, before showing the numbers nine and 28 – possibly suggesting that the announcement will be made on Monday (September 28).

The new posters follow Corey Taylor and co. returning with the surprise single ‘Arsenal’ earlier this month – their first new music in three years, and first release since the departure of Sid Wilson and the joining of drummer Eloy Casagrande.

It does seem more likely that the posters signify a tour announcement than any more music, as guitarist Jim Root recently responded to the mixed reaction to the band’s new song. He said it was only meant to be a standalone project, while Slipknot continue to work on their next album.

“’Arsenal’ was a tune we could quickly get out there while we work on the rest of the record. It’s not really representative of the other tunes,” he said, before doubling down and confirming that the single will not be a part of the new LP.

The new album will be the first since 2022’s ‘The End, So Far’, and while details remain vague, the band have revealed that they’ve been working with Matt Wallace on the record and have “so much material”.

In the time since that last album came out, they have teased a new song, ‘Long May You Die’ – which was recorded shortly after new drummer Eloy Casagrande joined in 2024, replacing Jay Weinberg – and have also released their long-awaited ‘lost’ album ‘Look Outside Your Window’ for this year’s Record Store Day.
