Zahid: BN honours seat pact, rejects PN's request for two more seats

Translate

MELAKA: Barisan Nasional (BN) has rejected Pas's request for two additional seats in next month's Melaka state election, with its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi saying the coalition would honour its existing agreement with the party and its political allies.

Zahid said BN had agreed to allow Perikatan Nasional (PN) to contest seven seats not being contested by BN, leaving the coalition to decide how to distribute them among its component parties.

"I have also heard about attempts to negotiate for additional seats, but we already have a 'baiah' or pledge. We have an agreement that they would be given the opportunity to contest seven seats not contested by BN, and we leave it to them to distribute the seats among the component parties in PN," he said.
