2026 CAF Awards: Semenyo shortlisted for Player of the Year award

Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has been shortlisted for the Player of the Year at the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards.
The Manchester City forward is among 10 players shortlisted for the prestigious award, which is scheduled to be held later this year.
Semenyo's nomination follows his impressive individual performance for the Premier League side in the year under review for Man City, helping them to win the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
The winger was also a part of the Black Stars team that played at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Canada and the United States of America.
The Ghanaian will face competition from Ivory Coast's Amad Diallo, DR Congo's Yoane Wissa, Moroccan trio Ismael Saibari, Achraf Hakimi, Brahim Diaz, Senegal trio Ismaila Sarr, Pape Gueye, Sadio Mane and Teboho Mokoena from South Africa.
His shortlisting comes as great news for the senior national team, with Caleb Yirenkyi being in the Young Player of the Year shortlist while the Black Stars are in the National Team of the Year shortlist.
The 2026 CAF Awards will be held in Lagos, Nigeria, on December 7, with the ceremony celebrating African excellence.
