NDC bans tally voting for eight positions in constituency elections

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has banned tally voting for eight positions in its constituency-level elections scheduled for Saturday, October 24, and directed delegates to present valid identification before casting their ballots.
The party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, announced the guidelines at a press briefing on Thursday, October 22, stressing that all aspirants, delegates and election officials must adhere strictly to the prescribed procedures.
Under the guidelines, delegates will be required to present a valid voter ID card, Ghana Card or the party’s plastic membership identification card for verification before voting.
Mr Kwetey said election officials must apply the identification requirements consistently, warning that no delegate should be allowed to bypass the verification process or receive preferential treatment.
The party has also directed that ballots for the women’s and youth conferences be kept securely and counted only after voting in the main constituency executive elections has ended.
The guidelines further prohibit tally voting for eight positions, with each delegate permitted to cast only one vote for each of the affected positions.
Mr Kwetey warned that the rules were binding on all participants and cautioned aspirants and delegates against practices that could undermine the credibility of the elections.
“We expect all participants to comply fully with them. Ignorance of the rules will not justify attempts to circumvent them, and no aspirants or delegates should seek an advantage through practices that compromise the fairness of the process,” he said.
