Lenny Kravitz Debunks Viral Rumor That He Died in Horrific Learjet Plane Crash

The rock star’s team has pushed back on a viral rumor that the singer died in the Learjet that crashed on Sunday in Florida, killing all nine people aboard.

“The reports are untrue and incorrect,” Kravitz’s publicist told BocaNewsNow late Sunday night.

The rumor reportedly started with a post on X of a purported screenshot of a post by pilot Emily Shelton, who previously went viral in August for making an emergency landing on a highway. The screenshot made it sound as if the “Fly Away” singer was on the ill-fated flight that took off from Austin, Texas and was headed to the Bahamas.

The screenshot read: “Honored to be flying the one and only Lenny Kravitz from [Austin’s airport] to [a Bahamas airport] tomorrow. Looking forward to having him on board. ‘It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over’ is gonna be playing in the cockpit.”

Needless to say, Shelton was not the pilot on the flight either. “I was recently made aware that there are rumors that I was the pilot of the recent crash in Palm Beach,” she wrote on TikTok. “I would like to respectfully clarify I was not. I ask that people please stop speculating and spreading misinformation on this tragedy and be respectful of those involved. My heart goes out to all those lost and affected.”

According to the Associated Press, the business jet nose-dived into a South Florida neighborhood near a busy roadway in Palm Beach County. The Federal Aviation Administration is sending a team to support the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.
