Taylor Swift remembers in her speech for the Video of the Year award

Taylor Swift wins big with Video of the Year awards at the VMAs, and even remembers Dolly Parton for her love and for the kind of work she did in the music industry. (Instagram)

Along with the release of Taylor Swift’s latest music video for ‘Patient Zero,' the singer won big at the MTV VMAs this year. Soon after accepting her inaugural Artist Director Honors award, Swift was announced as the recipient of the Video of the Year award.

During her acceptance speech, Swift dedicated the award to the late Dolly Parton, who was a big inspiration to many, and passed away at the age of 80 last month.

Beating out other entries such as Ariana Grande’s 'Hate That I Made You Love Me,' Bruno Mars’ 'I Just Might,' GENERATION's 'Storm' starring Yung Lean, Madonna's 'Confessions II - The Film,' and Sabrina Carpenter’s 'Tears,' Swift took home one of the major Moon Person awards for the night for Video of the Year.She got up on stage, gave the host Snoop Dogg a hug, and accepted the trophy, thanking fans for voting for ‘Fate of Ophelia’ and for supporting her throughout her career. She also detailed her career and growth as a director and how working on the music video was a great experience for her.

During her acceptance speech, the ‘Opalite’ singer dedicated the award to the one and only Dolly Parton. The singer shared, “I want to thank and dedicate this award to one person without whom this wouldn’t be happening, and that person is the ultimate showgirl, Dolly Parton.

Every single song that she wrote, her storytelling was so vivid and so rich."

She continued, sharing that her songs and music videos were a great experience and how, “it’s like watching the best music video you have ever seen in your life; every single time you hear what she’s written, it's like watching the best music video you have ever seen in your life." And she handled this thing with such grace and joy and love and gratitude for the fact that she got to do this, and everything that happened in her life or her career, she channelled back into love and gratitude and appreciation for her fans.

”She concluded her speech by saying, “I am lucky I got to be one of them, and I will always be one of them. I think that we were all very lucky to share this planet with Dolly Parton for a time. And thank you for this amazing moment. I love you all.”On the work front, Swift only recently released the extended version of her December album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’ Along with the extended version, she even released the official music video for her brand-new song, ‘Patient Zero.' The music video even premiered at the awards show.
