Felda Investment ex-CEO to face charges today over KLVC project misappropriation

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — A former chief executive officer (CEO) of Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC), investigated for alleged misappropriation involving the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project, is scheduled to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today.

A search of the court system showed that the individual is scheduled to appear before Judge Rosli Ahmad at 9 am to face the charges.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), in a media invitation, said it has obtained consent to charge the former CEO today.

On Sept 25, MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman reportedly said the individual would face two charges under Section 417 of the Penal Code.

According to Abd Halim, another individual, a former general manager of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), will face one charge under Section 420 of the Penal Code. The charge is scheduled to be registered in court on Sept 30.

The KLVC investigation is one of seven investigation papers involving Felda and FIC, consisting of six new cases and one reopened case.

The investigations concern asset purchases and investments by Felda and FIC between 2010 and 2020, suspected to involve corruption, misappropriation, and abuse of power. — Bernama
