Britain's diplomats are being reminded about commemorations for dozens of obscure awareness days, including six for transgender and intersex people – but not Remembrance Sunday.

A Foreign Office calendar obtained by the Daily Mail includes 110 awareness days, weeks and months covering gender identity, sexuality and wellbeing.

Mandarins are reminded to mark Flexible Working Day, International Pronouns Day, and even the anniversary of George Floyd's death.

The 2026 calendar, marked 'official', includes four trans observance days, two intersex days, and 20 days for mental health and neurodiverse conditions such as autism and ADHD.

Remembrance Day on November 11 to honour members of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives for Britain is noted but it ignores Remembrance Sunday – which will be marked at The Cenotaph on Whitehall, London, on Sunday – D-Day and VE Day.

Shadow Cabinet Office minister Charlie Dewhirst last night said: 'It's a calendar of niche awareness days with pronoun days and identity politics.

'No one knows what half this stuff means, but the lanyard class has made sure it fills officials' calendars.'

By comparison, the Cabinet Office recognised 21 awareness days, weeks and months in 2025.

The Department for Education marked 25, the Home Office 12, and the Wales Office none.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: 'The FCDO has supported national remembrance commemorations for several decades.'
