The Rolling Stones surprise release breezy new single ‘Who You Callin’ Crazy’

The Rolling Stones have surprised released the playful new single ‘Who You Callin’ Crazy’ – the latest teaser of new material on the deluxe edition of ‘Foreign Tongues’.

The rock giants announced an extended ‘Loose Lips’ version of their latest album last week, which will feature five previously unreleased songs, all written and recorded around the same time as the original tracklist.

Today (Tuesday October 20), they surprise released the latest of the five new songs, ‘Who You Callin’ Crazy’, which sees them embrace an uplifting, feel-good sound.

“If I look nervous, about to collapse/ if I’m squirming like a rat in a trap/ I keep blinking, my nose starts to twitch/ I keep scratching, don’t know where to itch,” Mick Jagger sings in the playful opening verse, building towards the confrontational, upbeat chorus, surrounded by backing singers: “I wanna know who, who you calling crazy”.

The song also sees the rock veterans join forces with jazz saxophonist Courtney Pine. Check out the official lyric video below.

Other new songs on the deluxe edition of the Stones’ 25th full-length album include ‘Bad Luck Hideaway’ which dropped last Friday (October 16) and features a duet vocal by Jagger and Keith Richards, as well as drums by the late Charlie Watts. That track was previously released as a bonus track on the iTunes exclusive edition of ‘Foreign Tongues’, and was recently made available via online platforms as the B-side to ‘Mr Charm’.

Other new songs on the way include ‘Where There’s A Will’ which features Steve Winwood on organ, ‘Human Tide’ and ‘She Still Comes Around’. The ‘Loose Lips’ edition of ‘Foreign Tongues’ is out on November 27 via Polydor/Universal Music. Pre-order it here.

In a three-and-a-half-star review of ‘Foreign Tongues’ – the follow-up to 2023’s Grammy-winning ‘Hackney Diamonds’ – NME wrote: “Mick, Keith and Ronnie [Wood] have hit a surprising purple patch – and if you believe the eternally energetic entertainer’s claim that he’s already writing the follow-up to ‘Foreign Tongues’, there’s plenty more left in the tank.”

Already, it looks like the band are already underway with more material, as Jagger told NME this summer that he’d “already started writing songs” again. He did shed doubt on whether the songs would definitely be for Rolling Stones, however, telling us: “They could be for other people though. When you write a song, you sometimes decide ‘that’s not for me, but it could be for the Chili Peppers’ or whatever.”

At time of writing, the band don’t have any live shows planned, with Richards being unable to “commit” to a full-scale tour. That being said, Jagger has told NME that they will “hopefully” get some live shows planned for 2027, and Ronnie Wood also told us that he is eager to go out as well, but waiting to see if things come together.

“When my compadres say, ‘Let’s go’, I’ll be ready,” he said. “I know Mick is busting to go, and Keith is not busting to go. And you’ve got to have everybody’s enthusiasm to do it.”

As for whether they could be lined-up for Glastonbury 2027, the guitarist said that he would do it at “the drop of a hat” but added that he was aware that “everybody doesn’t think like that”.
