KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Bursa Malaysia turned marginally lower at mid-morning, weighed down by mild selling in selected heavyweights, led by industrial products, utilities and banking counters.

At 11.01 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased by 0.79 points to 1,670.83 from Friday’s close of 1,671.62, after opening 0.93 of-a-point higher at 1,672.55.

Petronas Chemicals lost 10 sen to RM4.39, YTL Power International shed eight sen to RM5.81, Maybank eased four sen to RM10.18 and Public Bank slid one sen to RM4.79.

Market breadth was negative as losers outnumbered gainers 522 to 264. A total of 417 counters were unchanged, 1,721 were untraded and 91 suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.29 billion shares worth RM738.14 million.

Among the heavyweights, CIMB added three sen to RM7.93, Tenaga Nasional rose eight sen to RM13.22 and IHH Healthcare remained unchanged at RM8.03.

In active trade, Jaks Resources recovered one sen to 18 sen, while Zetrix AI reduced one sen to 18 sen, ACE Market debutant Evocom fell 4.5 sen to 13.5 sen, Inari Amertron slid 11 sen to RM2.55, and Top Glove shed three sen to 72.5 sen.

Of the top gainers, Petronas Dagangan expanded 14 sen to RM19.64, while Hong Leong Bank and Nestle strengthened 12 sen to RM23.26 and RM90.32, respectively, and both Sarawak Plantation and APM Automotive climbed 10 sen to RM4.28 and RM2.80, respectively.

Malaysian Pacific Industries led the losers list after falling RM1.32 to RM42.86, while Fraser & Neave shed 50 sen to RM22.50, United Plantations lost 40 sen to RM32.18, Hong Leong Industries slipped 20 sen to RM16.76 and UWC was 19 sen lower at RM6.69.

On the index board, the FBM Mid 70 Index retreated 134.62 points to 17,710.29, the FBM Emas Index eased 30.08 points to 12,426.56, the FBM Top 100 Index reduced 28.17 points to 12,215.29, the FBM Emas Shariah Index slid 38.48 points to 12,267.75, and the FBM ACE Index shed 11.48 points to 5,521.38.

Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index slipped 1.11 points to 182.99, and the Energy Index erased 2.02 points to 859.81.

The Financial Services Index climbed 2.93 points to 19,553.43, while the Plantation Index shaved off 4.90 points to 9,329.97. — Bernama
