Exclusive: Coronation Street's Idris to target Carla in new Underworld battle
Coronation Street star Junade Khan has announced plans for Carla Connor-Swain to become Idris Nazir's next target.
Idris has caused trouble for several of the residents since arriving in Weatherfield in May – but now he'll be aiming even higher as he tries to take control of Underworld from Carla.
Junade shared the news on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards 2026 last night.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, he teased: "Carla does not like Idris! Basically, Underworld is something that Idris wants to get. He wants to grab hold of it – and there's going to be a bit of a battle, a bit of a tussle.
"Obviously that's her livelihood, so she's not going to give it up easily, but we'll see what happens. I don't know if I can tell you exactly what happens but it's going to be interesting."
He continued: "Carla is a strong character, so when they both lock horns, it's going to be a battle of wits, really.
"Obviously Idris is a bit naughty and we'll see what happens there…"

While characters rarely cross Carla and get away with it, Junade warned that Idris will become a force to be reckoned with when they go head-to-head.
"He's very, very determined to get what he wants," Junade explained. "And when he sees a weak link in the chain, he likes to try and explore it.
"Right now, she's quite vulnerable so it's a really good time to attack her and get what he wants."
Fans will find out more details about Idris and Carla's new storyline in the next few weeks.

The Inside Soap Awards saw Carla's relationship with her wife Lisa celebrated, as Alison King and Vicky Myers were named Best On-Screen Partnership for the second consecutive year.
Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa, also took home the Best Actress prize for the second year running.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
