Body of missing girl, 11, is found in park as police probe 'unexplained' death

The death of an 11-year-old missing girl is being treated as 'unexplained' by police after her body was discovered in a park.
The girl, who has not been named, was reported missing at around 11.20pm on Sunday, October 4, and was later found deceased in Elmley Castle in Worcestershire at a park near the cricket ground.
West Mercia Police have said enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the child's death are ongoing, which at this stage is being treated as 'unexplained'.
The force confirmed the girl's family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Police also said those living in Elmley Castle should expect to see an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their enquiries.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: 'An investigation has been launched after the body of an 11-year-old girl was found in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire.
'The girl was reported missing at around 11.20pm yesterday evening (Sunday 4 October) and was later found deceased in the park near the cricket ground.
'Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
'Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained.
'People living in Elmley Castle will see an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their enquiries.'
