150 Indonesian nationals deported from JB for immigration offences

One hundred and fifty Indonesian nationals were deported to their home country through the Pasir Gudang international ferry terminal yesterday, with most having committed immigration offences.

The Indonesian consulate-general here said the group comprised 100 men, 48 women, a 15-year-old boy and a one-year-old girl.

The immigration offences included overstaying and working without valid permits, it said in a statement, adding that the deportation was carried out in cooperation with the immigration department.

Consular officer Leny Marliani said the deportation is not merely an administrative immigration process, but also an important step towards rehabilitation and reintegration into society upon the group’s return home.

The consulate-general had assisted in the deportation of 4,166 Indonesian nationals from the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia from January to September.
