The Friedkin Group, owners of both Roma and Everton, say they are ‘exploring new investment options’ for the Toffees, ‘including the potential sale of a controlling interest.’
The Friedkin Group is open to selling Premier League side Everton.
“The Friedkin Group is exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest,” a statement on the club’s website reads.

“When TFG became custodians of Everton, the Club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch. The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the Club’s future, including helping to bring the long-promised stadium to completion for its deserving supporters.”
The Friedkin Group completed Everton’s takeover in 2024. Four years earlier, in 2020, they had acquired a majority stake in Roma from another American businessman, James Pallotta.
“With that foundation now safely in place, the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton. We will only entertain interest from parties who we strongly believe will be the right stewards to take the Club forward and build on the momentum that has been established,” the Friedkin group continued.

“Throughout this process, TFG’s focus will remain unchanged. We will support the Club in all ways necessary to achieve success on the pitch and will continue efforts to make a positive difference in the communities the Club serves.
“TFG and the Club will not be commenting further while this work is under way.
“Moelis & Company has been retained by TFG.”

The Friedkin family’s relationship with Everton and Roma has looked very different, particularly over the last few months. This past September, Everton manager David Moyes admitted he had never spoken to Dan Friedkin, whereas Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini has frequently praised the owners for their close presence and support at the club.
Roma are currently top of the Serie A table, level on 13 points with Inter and Lazio.
They recently received the green light to start building their new stadium, which they hope will be ready in 2029 and will host Euro 2032.
