Leaders of the All Progressives Congress have been weighing their options ahead of the 2027 presidential election as the rift between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and some APC governors deepens.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and other petroleum marketers have reduced petrol prices across major depots following a decline in international crude oil prices.

The Osun State House of Assembly has become the first state legislature to approve the proposed constitutional amendment for the establishment of state police.

Suspected cultists have killed a party guest identified as Tosin in the Egbin area of Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State, and dumped his body in a river.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of lying about alleged N50bn Federal Government funding for the Ibadan International Airport upgrade.

Some APC governors and stakeholders regard Wike as a potential threat to President Tinubu’s re-election and are considering alternative options.

2. Dangote, marketers cut petrol prices as crude falls

Dangote Refinery cut its PMS price from N1,350 to N1,325 per litre in Lagos, while other marketers reduced prices by between N20 and N24.

The adjustments followed Brent crude falling below $100 per barrel. Similar reductions were recorded in Port Harcourt, Calabar and Warri.

3. State Police: Osun first to approve as N’Assembly clarifies transmission

The Osun State House of Assembly unanimously approved the State Police Services Bill on Tuesday.

The National Assembly clarified that only this particular constitutional alteration bill has so far been transmitted to the 36 state Houses of Assembly.

4. Robbers kill Lagos party guest, dump body in river

Tosin was attacked and robbed of his gold chains and phones while attending an event in Egbin, Ijede, on September 15.

His body was later found in a river in Agura. Police have arrested some suspects and transferred the case to the State CID.

5. FG didn’t fund Ibadan airport with N50bn — Makinde

Governor Makinde said the Ibadan Airport upgrade is being fully funded by the Oyo State Government and that President Tinubu’s approval was “at no cost to the Federal Government.”

He described Wike’s claim of N50bn FG funding as false.

6. Malami, Fagbemi clash over $200m Mambilla settlement

Malami rejected suggestions that the settlement was motivated by personal benefit, while Fagbemi said the protracted litigation had held the 3,050MW project “hostage” and deepened energy poverty.

An ICC tribunal recently rejected Sunrise Power’s claims against Nigeria.
