Robby Hoffman Snags Stand-Up Sequel at Netflix

Translate

The Emmy nominated performer, who debuted her first stand-up special on the streamer in December 2025, has struck a deal to return to Netflix with a follow-up. A new one-hour special is set to debut globally on Netflix in 2027.

Production company Rotten Science will be producing the outing. No other details have been revealed, like where or when the special will be recorded. As mentioned, it follows the first one, Robby Hoffman: Wake Up, which covered topics like her unique upbringing as part of a large, ex-Hasidic Jewish family, political correctness, gender identity and pronouns, wealth, Hollywood success and more. Also a lot of venting: “It’s a way of going to the gym for me. For me to complain is to enjoy, to understand. It’s a catharsis. If I’m yelling at you, I’m thrilled. I’m happy to be talking to you.”

The special had a Hollywood heavyweight behind the camera, too, as it was directed by stand-up superstar John Mulaney. During his Netflix is a Joke appearance with David Letterman earlier this year, Mulaney gushed about Hoffman, calling her a “total original,” and likening her debut to the late and great Sam Kinison, “someone who you’re, like, ‘I’ve never heard of a comedian like this. I’ve never seen anyone this unafraid.'” He added: “When she opened for me in San Diego at an outdoor venue on the water with lots of couples at tables, she never adjusted her act for anyone.”

Hoffman works as a writer, actor and comedian. She had a role on the last two seasons of HBO’s Hacks, and earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for her work on it. She is currently in the HBO series Rooster opposite Steve Carell, and her credits also include a role opposite Michelle Williams in FX’s critically acclaimed Dying for Sex. Hoffman is developing her own starring vehicle, UnEntitled.
