The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time finally received a proper showcase in a dedicated Nintendo Direct this week, but the surplus of gameplay footage still didn't answer every question about the remake. From the start, fans have been wondering just how much Nintendo will reinterpret the map of Hyrule, as the scope of the original game is significantly more focused than the vast expanses of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

We won't have all the answers until the game is actually out, but there's now more to go on than just what was shown in the Nintendo Direct. Thanks to an official release from Nintendo, fans curious about the map can now pore over it at their leisure to get some clues about what to expect.

As shared by Reddit user Constellar-A-, the official Japanese website shared a high-resolution image of the new map of Hyrule, which resembles the basic layout found in the original Ocarina of Time. The map is presented in a stylized, hand-drawn manner, so it doesn't represent the game in 1:1 scale, but it still contains plenty of interesting details.

Based on the map, it looks like fans can expect a generally similar presentation as a whole, as it doesn't reveal any massive new areas or significant changes to the layout. Reddit user cmiller4642, however, points out that the Ice Cavern could very well be getting an upgrade this time around. While the original Ice Cavern was smaller than any of the full-scale dungeons, its illustration on the map is just as prominent as some of Ocarina of Time's temples, suggesting (but not confirming) that it may have been fleshed out.

The Nintendo Direct revealed that the back alleys of Castle Town will be expanded in some capacity, setting a precedent for the game to make other tweaks of a similar scale. While some fans might have preferred a radical open-world overhaul, small tweaks to the map are likely the safest route for Nintendo to take, giving fans something new to look forward to without abandoning the game design that made Ocarina of Time such a beloved classic to begin with.

At any rate, fans won't have to wait long to explore the map properly. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is less than two months away, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release date set for November 5.
