#SHOWBIZ: Mamat Sepah issues public apology over ongoing Sepahtu feud

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Comedian Mamat Sepah has issued a public apology for the ongoing rift between his two close friends, Jep Sepahtu and Shuib Sepahtu, during a recent TikTok live broadcast.

Mamat, whose real name is Mohd Noor Haji Murad, 41, urged people to stop sending him negative direct messages (DMs).

"With a humble and sincere heart, I apologise to everyone. Therefore, to those who are still sending DMs with unpleasant words to read and hear, I earnestly ask that we put an end to it together," he said.

"Let us all be decent human beings. Like myself, I have realised my mistakes, so let us work together to improve ourselves."

"May Allah protect us from making mistakes and doing wrong that invites public backlash," he added during the TikTok live session.

Mamat admitted he holds no grudges over the backlash, accepting that the problem began due to his own actions.

"I am not angry at all of you who DMed me, cursed at me during my live sessions, and called me a troublemaker. True, if you look at the video, I was indeed the one who stirred the pot," he said.

"I was the one who sparked the story, which caused even Shuib to get caught up in it. In truth, Shuib did nothing wrong at all, and neither did his family."

He added that his decision to apologise publicly came entirely from his own free will after three weeks of thought, without any pressure from others.

"This comes straight from the sincerity of my heart after three weeks of contemplation," he shared.

"I figured that today might be a slightly freer and more suitable moment for me to reveal and express this to all of Jep Sepahtu's followers."

Mamat stressed that it is time for everyone to move on, hoping his apology will help clear the air.

The conflict began after Shuib highlighted their friendship issues on an episode of Dol's Podcast, which he co-hosts alongside Mamat.

Jep, whose real name is Mohd Nadzri Zainal Abidin, voiced his displeasure over the discussion.

While Jep acknowledged he had already apologised for past events, he expressed weariness at seeing their personal matters repeatedly brought up in public.

On Oct 15, Shuib apologied to Jep for the comments made on the podcast. But Jep filed a defamation lawsuit against Shuib on that same day.
