A Western Australian police officer has pleaded guilty in a Perth court to assaulting his five-week-old baby.
Nickolas Wayne Peake, 30, appeared at the Midland Magistrates court today charged with aggravated common assault.
In a statement, WA police said detectives from the Child Abuse Squad laid the charges on Sunday after the assault, and the baby was taken to Perth Children's Hospital as a precaution.
Police said Peake, a serving officer, had been stood down.
