PlayStation Plus Officially Adds Zelda-Inspired Adventure Game For Free

We may already be a few days into October, but ahead of the launch of the new month's offerings as part of the PlayStation Plus library, there are still some late September additions to get stuck into, including one which will appeal to The Legend of Zelda fans out there.

Arriving for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, three additional games were added to the library in the twilight days of September, including Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound and Sniper Elite: Resistance.

However, on top of these big names, a 2024 indie RPG has also been made available to download for free, and as something of an underrated gem, you will not want to miss out on it again.

Developed by Microbird Games, Dungeons of Hinterberg is a critically acclaimed action-adventure game set in the stunning Alps. As you explore the local town and befriend its residents, you will gain the abilities needed to explore the nearby dungeons, solve puzzles, battle monsters, and most importantly, uncover the secrets of the legendary Dungeons of Hinterberg!

Released back in 2024, our very own Leo Faierman awarded Dungeons of Hinterberg an impressive 8/10 in his review, calling it "an utterly charming blend of Zelda and Persona." As such, he wrote:

Screenshots of the game may immediately summon games like Zelda vibes, but they wouldn’t be exactly accurate, and the wider regions of Dungeons of Hinterberg aren’t packed with secrets and interactive details; it’s almost a dialogue-oriented Zelda-lite sort of experience. Call it “cozy Zelda,” call it “Zelda Crossing,” call it “Persona of the Wild” if needed, it’s really just a charming blend of all these notions, and certain standout dungeons on their own are worth chartering a flight to Dungeons of Hinterberg.

This Stunning Title Is Now Free To Download

Now, as part of the recent batch of PS Plus titles, Dungeons of Hinterberg is now free to download for PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra members, and if you missed out back in 2024, you now have the choice to dive into the dungeon-crawling action at no extra cost, both on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

It will be on 6 October that Sony will announce the latest batch of games heading to the PS Plus library, and unlike later additions such as Dungeons of Hinterberg, they will be available across all tiers as long as they are redeemed within their one-month availability window. However, once added to your library, they will be there to stay.

Whilst we do not know the full list of October additions, we do know that looter shooter Mycopunk will be joining the service, more specifically PS Plus Extra and Premium, on 14 October.
