Kate Beckinsale, Ryan Phillippe Psychological Thriller ‘The Patient’ Acquired by Buffalo 8 (EXCLUSIVE)

Buffalo 8 Distribution has acquired North American distribution rights to “The Patient,” a psychological thriller starring Kate Beckinsale and Ryan Phillippe, with the deal struck at the Toronto Film Festival market.

The company will release the film across major VOD platforms in December, followed by a physical media release.

Phillippe plays a man who comes to in a medical facility following a collision, left unable to move properly and with no recollection of the crash. Staff tell him his name is Dean Morris, but he refuses the identification, claiming to be Andrew Wright, a nature photographer. As his course of treatment darkens and the circumstances surrounding his identity grow increasingly difficult to square, he must find someone to trust before any evidence of who he truly is gets wiped out. Beckinsale plays Dr. Rose, the film’s inscrutable attending physician.

Written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil – whose credits include “Prey,” “Collide,” and “The Immaculate Room” – the film’s supporting cast features David Cade as Dr. Williams, Kelly Greyson as the nurse, and Michael Sirow as Chris.

The film was produced by Robert Ogden Barnum, Michael Benaroya, Lucas Jarach, Dewil, and Raja Collins. Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor serve as executive producers for Buffalo 8. “The Patient” is presented by Benaroya Pictures in association with BondIt Media Capital, Green Light Pictures, and 369 Productions Inc., as a Barnum Picture Company and Benaroya Pictures production. Post-production services were handled by Buffalo 8 Post Production, with financing from BondIt Media Capital and TPC.
