Bologna have confirmed that right-back Emil Holm will miss around four to six months of the 2026-27 season after having surgery on a major hamstring injury he suffered while on international duty with Sweden.
Holm to miss 4-6 months of action after hamstring surgery
Holm suffered a significant hamstring injury during Sweden’s recent Nations League victory over Romania, which required surgical intervention and will cause the former Juventus loanee to miss the majority of his side’s remaining 2026-27 fixtures.

Bologna confirmed in a statement on Thursday that Holm has had an operation to repair the damaged hamstring tendon in his right thigh, which was carried out in Finland by Professor Lasse Lempanien, who was observed by Bologna club doctor Dr. Luca Bini.
Bologna have also confirmed that Holm will be out of action for a period of four to six months.
“Following the injury he suffered during the Sweden vs. Romania match on Friday September 25, Emil Holm underwent surgery on the hamstring tendon in his right thigh,” read a statement on the club website.
“The surgery was carried out in Finland by Professor Lasse Lempainen, in the presence of Bologna FC club doctor Dr. Luca Bini. The player will rest at home for a few days and then begin the rehabilitation process. The expected recovery time is 4-6 months.”

Bologna have already taken steps to replace Holm, as former Italy international Matteo Darmian has been training with the club over the last few days with the aim of earning a permanent contract.
