KUALA PILAH: A temporary flood relief centre was opened at Sekolah Kebangsaan Undang Johol last night after two areas were hit by floods.

The centre opened at 10.25pm to house 38 victims from 17 families from Rumah Rakyat Kuala Johol and Kampung Padang Jual, Johol.

A Kuala Pilah Social Welfare Department spokesman said the centre was opened after the Johol state constituency headman reported rising floodwaters that had yet to recede in both locations.

Following that, the evacuation order was issued to ensure the safety of all victims.

The spokesman said as of 4am today, the relief centre recorded an increase in evacuees, including nine senior citizens and three people with disabilities.
