SpaceX to testify before NYC Council on AI safety risks after receiving subpoena: report
- SpaceX (SPCX) has agreed to testify before the New York City Council on Friday as part of a legislative investigation into AI safety risks, according to several media reports.
- The council had subpoenaed Elon Musk and SpaceX's AI unit on Sept. 28, but the company did not appear at a hearing on Oct. 5. It agreed to testify two days later after the council threatened to seek judicial enforcement of the subpoena.
- The investigation aims to assess potential public safety, cybersecurity, privacy, and other risks from advanced AI systems. Representatives from Anthropic (ANTHRO), OpenAI (OPENAI), Google (GOOGL) and Meta (META) testified at the earlier hearing.
