Ghosts new companion series may only have just begun, but the new CBS sitcom is already earning praise with a solid Rotten Tomatoes score.
The new supernatural sitcom, which premiered on Thursday, October 8, is a sister series of Ghosts. Created by the co-showrunners of the long-running CBS hit Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, Eternally Yours follows Charles (Ed Weeks) and Liz (Allegra Edwards), a vampire couple whose immortal marriage hits a rough patch when their daughter, Emma (Helen J. Shen), brings home her mortal boyfriend, Max (Jaren Lewison). The new series debuted well ahead of Ghosts season 6, which will be returning to CBS mid-season.
Eternally Yours' premiere may have been a quieter affair than it would've been if Ghosts were coming back, as well, but the young series had some good fortune when it comes to reviews and reception. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the series is averaging an 80% rating from reviews after just one episode on the air. With more episodes coming to CBS in the next weeks and more eyes on the series as Ghosts grows closer to returning, Eternally Yours is in a great spot to find its footing quickly and maintain an interested audience.
While the connection between Ghosts and Eternally Yours hasn't fully been established yet, Port and Wiseman have confirmed that the shows take place in the same universe, and there's potential for crossover in the future. With its first season coming out strong, the rest of Eternally Yours season 1 appears to have an interesting array of guest spots in place, including one from former Ghosts guest star Asif Ali, who will be playing a new character on the vampire series. SNL alum Tim Meadows and Emmy winner Jeff Hiller are also slated to join Eternally Yours this season.
