Indonesia sends 20 youth talents to WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has sent 20 vocational students and alumni to compete in 17 categories at the 48th WorldSkills Competition (WSC) in Shanghai, China.

Director General of Secondary and Special Education Tatang Muttaqin said here, Friday, the delegation—supported by 17 experts and a technical team—is participating in the global event running from Sept. 23–26 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center.

"This is a stage to prove that Indonesia's young vocational talents have skills, resilience, and creativity on par with global standards," Muttaqin said.

Indonesian competitors are vying for titles across diverse technical disciplines, including mechatronics, software application development, robotics systems integration, pâtisserie, automobile technology, and 3D digital game art.

Muttaqin emphasized that beyond seeking medal finishes, participation allows Indonesia to benchmark its vocational training against international industry standards and modernize curriculum back home.

"The greatest victory is not only when the Red and White flag flies at the podium, but also when this experience changes the way we educate and train millions of vocational students back home," Muttaqin said.
