Asian Games 2026: India beats Japan to enter men’s badminton team semifinal, assured of medal

India entered the semifinal of the men’s badminton team event of the Asian Games 2026 after beating Japan 3-0 in the last-eight clash at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium on Tuesday.
In the first singles, Lakshya Sen came back from five points down in the decider to win 11-21, 21-5, 21-19) against Kodai Naraoka.
Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty followed it up with a convincing straight game win (21-18, 24-22) Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi in the doubles.
Ayush Shetty sealed the tie by sweeping past Koki Watanabe 21-10, 21-19.
In the round of 16, India had beaten Bangladesh 3-0. India will now face the winner of the clash between China or South Korea on Wednesday.
In the last edition, India had won silver in the men’s team event, after losing to China in the final.
