Emmerdale and Coronation Street aren't on today - here's when the ITV soaps are back

If you loaded up YouTube or ITVX this morning expecting to find your Wednesday dose of Emmerdale and Coronation Street, you were probably very disappointed.

Yes, thanks to football once again, there is no new episode of Emmerdale or Coronation Street today (28 October).

ITV1 is instead airing the clash between Liverpool v Chelsea in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at 7.30pm.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street will be back to airing as normal on Thursday (October 29) and on Friday (October 30). Both soaps also aired an episode last Sunday (October 25) to make up for this Wednesday's missed episode.

When Coronation Street returns on Thursday, Sally will find herself facing allegations from Lucy after she accidentally lashed out a her during a Halloween prank on Tuesday's episodes.

The Metcalfe's will be visited by social worker Ruth and Sally will be stunned to discover how far Lucy has gone to paint her as an abuser. The visit from Ruth will cause Christina to fret about her granddaughter's safety.

Meanwhile, over on Emmerdale, Thea will be rushed to hospital after being stabbed by Kim during a confrontation at Home Farm following the kidnapping of Joe Tate's baby.

While Kim is terrified that she could have fatally stabbed Thea, what she doesn't know is that Thea is her long-lost daughter.

Claire King, who plays Kim, recent said of the storyline: "If Thea dies, Kim could end up back in prison.

"Obviously, Kim would be beside herself if she knew Thea was actually her daughter. She thought she'd lost her 27 years ago, now she could lose her forever!"

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
