Police arrest woman, offer GH¢100,000 reward for Sakumono murder suspect

Translate

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman in connection with the killing of two relatives at the NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in the Greater Accra Region, and declared the principal suspect wanted.

The suspect, identified as Beatrice Mumuni, is believed to have led Samuel Christopher Osei Anto to the residence of the deceased before the murders, according to a police statement

The victims, George Atuguba, 57, and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, were killed on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The police have declared Osei Anto wanted to assist investigations and are offering a reward of GH¢100,000 for credible information leading to his arrest.

Police appeal for information

In a statement announcing the arrest, the police urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of Osei Anto to report to the nearest police station.

The public may also contact the police through the emergency numbers 191 or 18555.

The arrest follows preliminary police findings that the killings may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who allegedly owed GH¢500,000.

The police had earlier said Osei Anto reportedly went to the victims’ residence with Mumuni to demand repayment of the money, after which a misunderstanding allegedly occurred and the two victims were shot.

The circumstances surrounding the killings remain under investigation.

The police have appealed for public assistance as efforts continue to locate Osei Anto and establish the full circumstances of the incident.
