IPOH, Sept 24 — Police confirmed the arrest of three foreign male students from a private higher learning institution believed to be involved in the murder of a local man in Kampung Kuchai here on Sept 18.

Ipoh police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the suspects, aged between 17 and 20, were detained at their apartment unit yesterday.

He said the 53-year-old victim was found unconscious with facial injuries in an open area by members of the public.

“The victim was rushed to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun here for treatment but was pronounced dead at 6.42pm on Sept 22.

“A post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head,” he said in a statement today.

Muhammad Najib said following investigations, police detained the three suspects to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

He added that further investigations are ongoing to determine the motive for the attack and the relationship between the victim and the suspects.

“Anyone with information on the incident is urged to assist in investigations by contacting the Ipoh District Police Headquarters at 05-2451500 or any nearby police station,” he said. — Bernama
