PUNCH journalist unveils book on Christian unity

PUNCH multimedia journalist Joshua Adeleke has unveiled his debut book, I Will Build My Church, which advocates unity and spiritual revival among Christians.

According to a statement issued by the author on Tuesday, the book urges believers and church leaders to “place their shared identity in Christ above denominational loyalty and rivalry.”

Adeleke, a video editor with PUNCH, officially unveiled the book on September 26, 2026.

The publication examines denominationalism and argues that divisions within the Christian community could hinder fellowship, cooperation and genuine spiritual renewal.

The title was inspired by the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 16:18: “I will build my church.”

The statement said the book also draws on Jesus’ prayer for unity among His followers in John 17, as well as the Apostle Paul’s teachings in 1 Corinthians 1 and Ephesians 4.

It added that the publication encourages Christians to uphold the gospel, pursue holiness and demonstrate the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

“Beyond the issue of division, I Will Build My Church highlights the need for revival and a return to the values of the early Church,” the statement said.

Adeleke argued that lasting spiritual renewal could be achieved through obedience to God’s Word, prayer, repentance, love and unity.

The book is targeted at pastors, church leaders, missionaries, Christian workers, students and other believers interested in building a church that reflects the character and purpose of Jesus Christ.

Rather than criticising existing denominations, the author said the publication seeks to encourage biblical reflection and renewed commitment to Christian unity.
