Sunita Ahuja gets emotional over missing family Diwali celebrations; says home feels 'soona-soona', recalls first Diwali with Govinda

Sunita Ahuja has shared an emotional account of how Diwali celebrations have changed in her household over the years. Recalling the family gatherings that once made the festival lively, she said her home now feels considerably quieter.

Her comments have attracted attention amid ongoing speculation about her relationship with husband Govinda. In a chat with Pinkvilla, Sunita spoke about missing the atmosphere of earlier celebrations. She remembered a time when relatives, children and her mother-in-law would come together at home. However, changing family circumstances have altered those traditions. Her mother-in-law has passed away, while the children have grown older and become busy with their individual lives.

Sunita Ahuja says her home feels 'soona-soona' during Diwali

Sunita said the house was once filled with activity during the festival. The presence of family members brought a sense of togetherness that she now misses. She also acknowledged that she cannot expect her grown-up children to remain at home just for the occasion."Pehle jab Diwali hoti thi, toh mera ghar bhara-bhara rehta tha. Ghar mein saas hoti thi, bhanje aur bachche hote the. Khoob chahal-pahal rehti thi, lekin ab bachche bade ho gaye hain aur saas bhi nahi hain.

Isliye ab ghar soona-soona lagta hai. Main bachchon se yeh nahi keh sakti ki tum ghar par hi raho. Sabhi apni-apni zindagi mein vyast hain aur aap kisi ko disturb bhi nahi kar sakte." ("Earlier, during Diwali, my house would be full of people.

My mother-in-law, nephews and children would all be there. The house would be buzzing with activity. But now, the children have grown up, and my mother-in-law is no longer with us.

That's why the house feels so empty. I cannot tell the children to stay home just for me. Everyone is busy with their own lives, and you cannot disturb anyone either.")

How Sunita Ahuja celebrates Diwali now

Despite missing the earlier family gatherings, Sunita has found ways to enjoy the festival independently. She said she lights diyas at home and treats herself to sweets. However, she also has to be mindful of her food choices because of diabetes."Ab main akele hi apni khushiyan bana leti hoon. Ghar mein diye jalati hoon aur mithai khati hoon.

Diabetes hai, isliye soch-samajhkar khati hoon, lekin apni Diwali enjoy karti hoon." ("Now, I create my own happiness on my own. I light diyas at home and eat sweets. I have diabetes, so I have to be careful about what I eat, but I still enjoy my Diwali.")

Sunita Ahuja remembers her first Diwali after marrying Govinda

Sunita also revisited memories from the early years of her marriage. Recalling her first Diwali as Govinda's wife, she spoke about the gifts she received from her mother-in-law.

These included a beautiful saree and a gold set, which made the occasion memorable for her.She also made a light-hearted remark about Govinda's gifting habits. According to Sunita, the actor has become somewhat miserly over the years. She joked that he does not give her many presents anymore, suggesting that their long marriage has changed that aspect of their relationship.
