Robert Pattinson's Primetime Breaks All-Time A24 Box Office Record

Audiences across North America are tuning in to Primetime.

The new A24 movie, which stars Robert Pattinson as To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen, was directed by Lance Oppenheim (Ren Faire) from a screenplay by Ajon Singh (Spider-Punk) based on the 2007 Luke Dittrich Esquire article "Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die." 2026's Primetime premiered in competition at the Venice International Film Festival before hitting theaters on September 25. It is projected to debut at No. 4 in North America behind fellow new release Heart of the Beast (No. 3), the holdover horror hit Resident Evil (No. 2) and the re-release Avengers Endgame: Encore (No. 1).

The supporting cast of Primetime includes Skyler Gisondo, Merritt Wever, Phoebe Bridgers, Anna Faris, Alex Winter, Bokeem Woodbine, Tony Revolori, and Jeff Zucker as himself.

Per Variety, as of Sunday morning, Primetime is projected to earn a 3-day total of $19.2 million at the domestic box office by the end of its opening weekend. This sees it earning the third-best domestic opening weekend of all time for A24, beating out their 2025 hit Marty Supreme ($15.7 million), which is their second highest-grossing movie of all time. It has only fallen behind the domestic debuts of their first and fourth highest-grossing movies, namely 2026's Backrooms ($81.4) and 2024's Civil War ($25.5).

Naturally, the movie has also broken the record as the biggest debut for an A24 movie starring Robert Pattinson.
