EastEnders reveals historic Craig incident in new police suspension twist

EastEnders has revealed a historic incident involving newcomer DC Craig Ingram in a new police suspension twist. In Thursday's episode, Amy Mitchell made a shocking confession about Joel Marshall, who viewers know was hit over the head with a hammer in last month's scenes as the teens took revenge on him.
The police have been investigating the violent attack, and in a major twist, Amy admitted to Craig that she was the one who put Joel in hospital after reaching a breaking point when things escalated that evening.

In tonight's (17 August) episode, Amy fretted about her confession to Craig and later asked him to keep it a secret. On the phone to Craig, she said: "I know you're on my side. That's why I told you. Because I can trust you."
Craig met Amy at the park, where he told her he would do his best, explaining that he was now compromised because he knew that Amy was the one who committed the crime.
"Keeping this to myself could cost me my job," he told her, adding that he could be prosecuted for keeping her secret. He said that if the police found out he knew, they could "do a runner together".
At the police station, Craig was suspended from public duty policing after his superior told him that a serious complaint had been made against him.
Explaining why he had been suspended, the superior said that Craig had been moved to Walford after a "complaint issue" as part of an arrangement that would allow him to stay on full duties.
However, he was told that a further complaint had been made and he was accused of gross misconduct from a previous case.

"It's alleged that you engaged in inappropriate relationships with a female officer," he was told. Craig denied the allegations.
His superior also informed him that he would be taken off the Joel case, remaining on full pay, but with his police powers suspended.
Meanwhile, at home, Amy decided to run away after Jack unknowingly told her that the police would likely find Joel’s attacker, but before she had time to make her escape, Craig rumbled her.
EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
