“A Woman’s Stability, A Man’s Downfall”: Nick Odhiambo’s Views On Marriage Go Viral

Translate

Veteran radio presenter Nick Odhiambo has sparked a debate on social media after stating that he will never get married again, barely two years after celebrating a lavish traditional wedding with his partner, Annie Sumbeiywo.

Speaking during an interview on the Iko Nini Podcast, hosted by veteran broadcaster Alex Mwakideu, the 44-year-old Hot 96 morning show host shared his views on relationships, financial expectations, and personal peace.

“I will never get married again; it’s too peaceful being unmarried,” Odhiambo said during the podcast. “A lot of women want to get married, but they don’t want to be wives. The beginning of a woman’s financial stability is when they get married, but the beginning of a man’s financial downfall is when they get married.”

The widely shared clip prompted reaction online, with listeners debating whether the radio personality was reflecting on his own marriage or offering general commentary on modern relationships.

Odhiambo and Sumbeiywo previously celebrated their union in a traditional Kalenjin wedding ceremony, known as a Koito, on April 13, 2024. The colorful event drew family members, friends, and prominent public figures, including Nairobi lawyer and businessman Donald Kipkorir.
