The confrontation reportedly occurred during Combs’ daily break from the prison’s Special Housing Unit (SHU), where he had already been placed following the NBC News report.
Both men were subsequently ordered to spend two weeks in solitary confinement as punishment for the alleged altercation, TMZ reported.
Combs was reportedly taken by ambulance to an outside medical facility at about 1am on Saturday (October 10), before returning to prison later that morning.
People magazine separately confirmed his hospitalisation, while his representative said the circumstances surrounding the injury were still being verified.
The 56-year-old rapper’s projected release date has also been pushed back from January 21, 2028, to March 2, 2028, although no official link between the change and the latest incident has been established.
Combs is serving a 50-month prison sentence after being convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution, including his former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura.
