Man wanted for 5 counts of rape arrested in Misamis Oriental


ILIGAN CITY — A man wanted for five counts of rape was arrested on Monday in Misamis Oriental after two years of hiding, police said Thursday.
Col. Al Abanales, Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (MORPPO) Director, said personnel of the Opol Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit, and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested the suspect, identified only as alias “Marlo,” 53, a resident of Cagayan de Oro City.
The suspect was arrested on the strength of warrants for three counts of rape, for which no bail was recommended, and two counts of rape by sexual assault under Article 266-A(2) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 11648. Bail for the latter charges was set at P200,000.

According to police records, the alleged sexual abuses were committed in 2024 against a minor.
Opol police have taken the suspect into custody for proper disposition.
Abanales commended the operations and vowed to sustain the campaign against wanted persons.
“Our pursuit of wanted persons will remain relentless. Regardless of how long they attempt to evade arrest, we will continue our efforts to locate and apprehend them and ensure that they face the charges filed against them before the proper courts,” Abanales said.
He assured the public the MORPPO would continue to uphold the rule of law and respect due process while conducting sustained law enforcement operations to maintain peace and security in Misamis Oriental./coa
